Mirza
My name is Mirza, and I am 27 years old. I live in Barking and I
am originally from Montenegro. I came in UK in 1999 to escape persecution
and for a better life. I choose England as I thought of it as a
safe place where people are respected and valued for their skills
and not judged because of their origin, religion or any thing else.
I am illegal in UK but I am working and I am using the documents
previously issued by the Home Office. I pay my taxes and NI and
because I have been working for a long time I am being paid a respectful
pay. I get on well with my boss at work and with the house landlord
but I know I am lucky in this area.
I would like to be legalised as my life will change for good. I
can't start a family life because of the uncertainty on my status
and I don not know where I would be next. I know what it means to
move from one place to another and not be settled and feel secure
and I do not what this for my future family.
I like England because I can live as a free person, I can work
here and earn my living and I know that we are safe and there is
no risk of war starting and blowing up our homes.
I feel connected with England and I like living here. I have been
living here for 8 years and I have very good memories of my life
here, contrary to my life in Montenegro. I have made a life for
myself and I have relatives and friends who are granted Indefinite
Leave to Remain. I see the difference that being legalised makes
to people and I can not expect better for myself. I think everyone
deserves to live freely and properly as we are all human beings.
I am giving my skills in use of the community in UK for 8 years
and I would be honoured to be able to continue to contribute while
I feel secure and happy.
